Call for Speakers

Calling speakers old and new!

Whilst MWUG is organising WordCamp Manchester,  we are looking for speakers and presentations from areas both local and further a field.

What we are looking for

WordCamp Manchester are looking for interesting topics about WordPress or effects working with WordPress in some way.

Maybe it’s how WordPress has helped you in a particular situation, or your technical solution for a client problem, or simply how to get the best out of your favourite plugin!

Aim your topic at any WordPress knowledge level, and please note that you don’t need to be an expert at all to share your thoughts at WordCamp.

Format

Each session will consist of 35 minutes inclusively for you to share your topic of choice.

Lightning Talks

We will be reserving one session to run the lightning talks. Lightning talks are a great way to share your experience or thoughts, without doing a full session on your own.

There will be eight 10-minute slots for you to share anything you like. No slides, just you sharing something that might be of use to your fellow WordPressers.

The lightning talk submissions will only be accepted on the day and will be a first-come first-served basis.

Topic Ideas

We surveyed members of the Manchester WordPress User Group to ask what topics they would like at WordCamp Manchester. Survey responses included (in no particular order):

  • Learning about advance Theme usage and development techniques
  • Learn more about WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS)
  • Learn about developing Themes & Plugins
  • SEO and Marketing
  • Using WordPress as an eCommerce platform
  • Learn more about Blogging and content writing
  • Learn about setting up and using Child Themes properly

Feel free to use these topic ideas as an inspiration for your talk submission, and note that the list is not comprehensive, other ideas are very welcome!
