From bloggers to professional WordPress developers, we aim to cater to everyone&#8217;s needs with a two-track conference on Saturday, followed by a contributor day on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>This event is run by a <a title=\"Organisers\" href=\"https:\/\/2014.manchester.wordcamp.org\/about\/organisers\/\">team of passionate volunteers<\/a> whom are dedicated to ensuring that everyone at the event feels welcome, respected and safe.<\/p>\n<p>We have written a <a title=\"Code of Conduct\" href=\"https:\/\/2014.manchester.wordcamp.org\/about\/code-of-conduct\/\">code of conduct<\/a>. Please make it your aim to ensure that WordCamp Manchester is a harassment-free experience for everyone.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"banner-right\">What to expect<\/h2>\n<h3>Saturday 28<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/h3>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s program is <strong>Conference Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The format for\u00a0the day will consist of two tracks running simultaneously, with each track being\u00a08 sessions to choose from. The day will be split up with coffee breaks and lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>After the WordCamp ends (around 5pm), there will be a <strong>Social Event<\/strong> with a buffet of food and drinks to round the day off. This is the perfect setting\u00a0to meet, network and connect with the WordPress community.<\/p>\n<h3>Sunday 29<sup>th<\/sup> June<\/h3>\n<p>Sunday&#8217;s program will consist of a <strong>Contributor&#8217;s Day<\/strong>. This is the perfect event for people whom want to spend time contributing back to the WordPress eco-system.<\/p>\n<p>You do not need to have any previous experience of contributing, but having a laptop with you will greatly help. There will be people on hand to help you get set-up, and show you how to contribute back to the community.<\/p>\n<p>If you have experience with contributing, it is a great way to block out some of your precious time to dedicate to WordPress, and the last one we held was great fun !<\/p>\n<p>For more information on what to expect from WordCamps globally, please see <a href=\"http:\/\/central.wordcamp.org\/what-to-expect\/\">WordCamp Central<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"banner-right\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mwug.info\">Manchester WordPress User Group<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>WordCamp Manchester is being brought to you by <a href=\"http:\/\/mwug.info\">Manchester WordPress User Group<\/a>, who are lovingly known as MWUG for short.<\/p>\n<p>The user group is a monthly meet up where all things WordPress are discussed. The group splits\u00a0our\u00a0meet up into two sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The first session is from\u00a018:30 &#8211; 19:30 when\u00a0general topics are\u00a0discussed including latest news, Q&amp;As, demos, talks, and more&#8230; and total beginners are very welcome. The later\u00a0session from 20:00 &#8211; 21:00 covers more technical aspects\u00a0of WordPress&#8230;\u00a0and everyone is welcome to attend too.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the group meets up on the third Wednesday each month at <a href=\"http:\/\/madlab.org.uk\/\">MadLab<\/a>, Edge Street, Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>You can find the group on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meetup.com\/ManchesterWordPressUserGroup\/\">Meetup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"banner-right\">The Header Image<\/h2>\n<p>The panoramic black and white image, which has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manchester.ac.uk\/discover\/news\/article\/?id=3750\" title=\"Development version of The Baby Computer\" target=\"_blank\">unearthed in the archives<\/a> at The University of Manchester, shows a development version of an early computer called \u2018<strong>The Baby<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Small Scale Experimental Machine<\/strong> \u2013 to give the Manchester invention its full title \u2013 successfully executed its first program on 21 June 1948 \u2013 and paved the way for the computers, iPods and mobile phones we all take for granted today &#8211; and WordPress!
